Narendra Damodar Modi, 63, took oath of office and secrecy by President Pranab Mukherjee as India's 15th Prime Minister along with his 44-member Cabinet on Monday evening .nearly 4000 people were present at the ceremony held in the forecourt of the magnificent Rashtrapati Bhavan. Lakhs more, including Mr Modi's mother, watched on television.
Along with Modi his cabinet ministers who were sworn in included Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, Nitin Gadkari, Venkaiah Naidu, Gopinath Munde, Ravi Shankar Prasad, VKSingh, Ram Vilas Paswan among others.
The new PM also said, "Together we will script a glorious future for India. Let us together dream of a strong, developed and inclusive India that actively engages with the global community to strengthen the cause of world peace and development." He promised in his signed message to use the "website as a very important medium of direct communication between us."
Mr Modi invited leaders from eight South Asian neighbours to his swearing-in ceremony, including Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, an unprecedented gesture that was as much a show of his determination to be a key player on the global stage as a celebration of his stunning election victory 10 days ago.
The swearing in ceremony was also attended by a host of Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, and Dharmendra.
Outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi, besides leaders of various other parties and chief ministers of a number of states, were also present at the swearing in ceremony.

Next up was Sushma Swaraj who has been made the External Affairs Minister. She will be assisted by former Army Chief General VK Singh as Minister of State. The General, who is now the BJP's Ghaziabad MP, also has independent charge of North East Affairs.
Cabinet Team:

the Finance Minister and will also hold additional charge of Defence and Corporate Affairs. He will be assisted in the Defence Ministry by Gurgaon MP, recently imported by the BJP from the Congress, Rao Inderjit Singh as Minister of State. Mr Singh also has independent charge of Statistic and Planning.

was the fourth BJP leader to be sworn in. He will be Parliamentary Affairs Minister in the new government. Another former party president

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti is Union Minister for Water Resources.

Former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde has been handed the Rural Development Ministry.
8.Kalraj Mishra
Former UP BJP chief Kalraj Mishra has also been made Cabinet minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
9. Maneka Gandhi
Maneka Gandhi will be Union Minister for Women and Child Development.
10.Ananth Kumar:
Ananth Kumar will hold the Chemicals and Fertiliser Ministry.
11.Ravi Shankar Prasad
.Ravi Shankar Prasad will be Law Minister and also have charge of Telecom.
13.Narendra Singh Tomar, Madhya Pradesh BJP chief, has also been inducted into the Union Cabinet.
14.Jual Oram will be Cabinet Minister for Tribal Affairs.
15.Radha Mohan Singh a Bihar BJP leader will hold the key portfolio of Agriculture.
16.Prakash Javadekar, senior BJP spokesperson, will be MoS Information and Broadcasting Minister with Independent Charge and also MoS Parliamentary Affairs. He will also have independent charge of Environment.
17.Thawar Chand Gehlot: BJP general secretary Thawar Chand Gehlot, the party's Dalit face, too finds a place in the Cabinet.
18.Smriti Irani,
who took on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in a spirited contest in Amethi in the general election, is Human Resource Development minister.
19.Harsh Vardhan :Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan, who defeated journalist-turned-politician Ashutosh of the Aam Aadmi Party and former union minister Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chowk, is the new Health Minister.
20.Nirmala Sitharaman :
BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman is the new Commerce Minister with independent charge.
21.Piyush Goyal : BJP Rajya Sabha member Piyush Goyal is Power and Coal Minister with independent charge. Party general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan has independent charge of the high-profile Oil Ministry.
